1951 年出生於美國伊利諾州的 Dan Fogelberg 非常感性而有才華的音樂人
小時候祖父送他樂譜讓他自學吉他、鋼琴 14 歲時加入樂團開始了演唱生涯
他的音樂風格橫跨了民謠、流行、歐洲古典音樂、爵士樂以及藍草鄉村音樂
我在學生時代就非常喜愛他的三首作品： 1981 年的《Leader of the Band》
以及《Same Old Lang Syne》還有這首 1979 年清新優美的作品《Longer》
這首單曲也曾經打入 1980 年美國 Billboard Hot 100 第 2 名
Starry night in Maui
Dan Fogelberg 創作的靈感，來自某年夏天他在夏威夷第二大島 Maui ( 茂宜島 ) 度假
他曾經形容那一天晚上在海邊沙灘上，躺在吊床上看著滿天星光熠熠，忽然
這首歌曲彷彿在宇宙中漂流，於是他寫下這首以天地萬物，大自然主題的情歌
以吉他與小提琴開頭，還有鋼琴與豎琴，其中小喇叭的部分，尤其是神來一筆
所為情歌者，詩歌為醇酒，愛情就是酵母。深夜裡聽這首歌曲，不喝也醉了！
Maui 著名的 Ka’anapali 海灘，有綿延 4.8公里的潔白沙灘和清澈透明的海水
Kaanapali Beach ( 卡納帕利海灘 ) 還曾經被評價是全美國最美的沙灘。
這麼美的度假勝地，這麼優閒的氛圍，提供 Dan Fogelberg 足夠的創作靈感
造就出《Longer》這麼優美的音樂詩篇
