現在要介紹的這首歌曲，就不同意這個觀點。翻唱過這首歌的女歌手們，也都不是軟骨頭！
《Silver Threads and Golden Needles》這首歌是 1956 年 Dick Reynolds and Jack Rhodes
作詞作曲，由當年剛出道，就以一曲《I Gotta Know》打進 Billboard 排行榜第 15 名成績
的鄉村女歌手 Wanda Jackson 首次錄製的。不過這首歌，在她手上並沒有特別出色的表現。

Wanda Jackson 與大她 2 歲的貓王 Elvis Presley 都可算是 50 年代剛開始出道打拼的歌手
兩人交情頗深，曾經也是貓王早期短暫的女友，以前經常一起吃飯分擔帳單，貓王鼓勵她
往搖滾的歌路去發展，後來她果然走出自己的鄉村搖滾的歌路，在第 7 及 13 屆葛萊美獎
兩度被提名最佳鄉村女歌手，她一直活躍在鄉村歌壇，到去年 82 歲高齡才正式宣布退休。
The Springfields 英國的流行民謠三重唱，由姊姊 Dusty Springfield 帶著弟弟 Tom and Tim
在 1962 年翻唱 Wanda Jackson《Silver Threads and Golden Needles》並且刪改部分歌詞
刪掉原始歌詞的第 3 段，後來的版本大都依照這個新版本來翻唱，在英美兩地都發行專輯
進入美國 Billboard 排行榜 96 名，成績平平。後來 The Springfields 解散，Dusty 自己單飛
1966 年堅持選歌品質，以《You Don't Have to Say You Love Me》成為美國第四、英國榜首。

Skeeter Davis 在 1962 年翻唱 Springfields 的版本，並且由 RCA 唱片在多個國際市場上發行
其實 Springfields 版本《Silver Threads and Golden Needles》編曲已經擺脫了鄉村民謠的味道
但是 Skeeter Davis 把它再加重、加快節奏，以 solo 的力道，唱得更有氣勢，學生時期我學的
第一首英文歌曲就是 Skeeter Davis《The End of the World》這篇文章開頭，選擇她的專輯圖片
是為了不忘初心，因為第一次接觸《Silver Threads and Golden Needles》這首歌也是她的版本。

1977 年她的《Blue Bayou》一直是我的歌單中的最愛之一。2016 年葛萊美終身成就獎獲獎人
美國搖滾巨星 Linda Ronstadt 在 1969 年她出道的首張專輯就收錄這首歌曲，在 1973 年的
第二張專輯重新再錄製《Silver Threads and Golden Needles》鄉村搖滾流行版，第二版以
單曲形式發行，並在 1973 年名列 Billboard 的前 20 名，這已經是這首歌曲最佳的成績了。
其實我個人最喜愛 Linda Ronstadt 的版本，唱得理直氣壯，有底氣，還不失可愛的女人味！

新版本編曲及使用樂器，更有現代節奏感，更像一支流行舞曲，更適合 Linda 的風格，因為
當時她招募新的音樂人才 Glenn Frey and Don Henley 組成自己的樂團參與編曲及合聲伴奏
在巡演的過程中，他們決定自立門戶 Linda Ronstadt 非但沒有生氣，反而扮演了推手的角色
協助推薦其他人選加入，並促成組建了 70 年代美國最偉大的樂團之一「Eagles 老鷹合唱團」
我一直欣賞 Linda Ronstadt 的就是人甜美，歌好聽，有成人之美的胸襟，落落大方很大氣。

1993 年她找來了老姊妹鄉村歌手 Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn 三個歐巴桑開心地組成了
一個三重唱組合，出了一張專輯，再度把這首歌曲重新錄製，還打進了當年 Billboard 鄉村
單曲排行榜第 68 名，一起感受她們中氣十足、銀色歡樂的魅力吧！

最後以一曲「廣場舞 Line dance」作為結束，配樂的版本，就是上面這首歌曲
