美國歌手 Tony Orlando 出生在 1944 年，童年時期在紐約及紐澤西長大
他的父親是希臘人、母親波多黎各人，天生有著一副好歌喉，在 1959 年當他 15 歲時
就開始組建樂團展開職業歌手的生涯，後來由於他需要和聲歌手來搭配演出
1970 年開始與 Telma Hopkins & Joyce Vincent Wilson 組成的 Dawn 合唱團合作
Tony Orlando & Dawn 合作的《Knock three times》果然在推出後大受歡迎
曾經奪得 1971 年 Billboard Hot 100 單周冠軍，也在英國排行榜上名列第一
接著在 1973 年他們推出的《Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree》
依然深受歌迷的青睞，更是成為 Tony Orlando & Dawn 的代表作
《Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree》是一首歡樂中帶淚的歌曲
一個剛出獄的男人，回鄉的路上忐忑不安地，看著路邊家門前那棵老橡樹上

就輕鬆歡樂的多了，一個宅男單戀樓下的鄰居小妞，天天聽到樓下著放音樂
想著女孩的曼妙舞姿，在夢中單相思也不是辦法，於是給了對方一張小紙條
直接表白詢問回應，如果 Yes 那就在天花板敲三下，如果 No 就敲水管兩下
這首歌曲最終沒有答案，或許小紙條給女孩他老爸截走沒收了，呵呵呵…

有趣的是，在台灣很多人第一次接觸到《Knock three times》這首英文老歌
卻是拜布袋戲節目之賜，在美國才推出的專輯，在台灣馬上就跟著紅紅火火
1970 年台視推出黃俊雄布袋戲節目，轟動武林、驚動萬教的「雲州大儒俠」
1971 年跟著推出「六合三俠傳」其中有個非常逗趣的角色「怪俠 鐵煙吹」
每次他一出場，就響起了這首翻唱《Knock Three Times》的台語歌曲《丟三下》

《丟三下》這首翻唱歌曲，當時在台灣很紅，打開收音機 AM 電台經常播放
當時我還在讀小學，每到中午一定帶著便當盒，跑到附近雜貨店去看布袋戲
由於《丟三下》大人小孩皆能朗朗上口，所以《Knock three times》的旋律節奏
大家也都耳熟能詳，後來讀初中一年級的時候，我已經開始學唱這首英文歌曲
無論是《Knock three times》或是《丟三下》都是我童年時美好的回憶了！
