大腹便便的老頭，只要有錢就好！夜深人靜的大豪宅裡，強忍那寂寞空虛襲上心頭。
然後就質問自己：難道要一輩子跟著這個老不死的嗎？於是，開始鬼扯說謊，開始劈腿
去找她的老相好窮小子，甜蜜纏綿之際，也允諾了要他耐心，等她回來廝守一生。可是
作得到嗎？她陷入痛苦的矛盾，儘管她的微笑可以偽裝，但是，她的眼神卻藏不了！
某個晚上閒來無事 Eagles 的創始成員 Glenn Frey and Don Henley 到洛杉磯他們常去光顧
的一家餐廳 Dan Tana’s 酒吧去小酌兩杯，按照在《the History of the Eagles 老鷹的歷史》
紀錄片中 Don Henley 的說法：「這些漂亮的妞都喜歡來 Dan Tana’s 酒吧與我們這些搖滾
歌手把酒言歡，她們從晚上 8 點一直待在那兒混到午夜，但是她們都是些 Kept Woman
再晚也會回家的」這類的妞大都是富商名流的情婦，也就是 Glenn Frey 形容的 City girls

A woman who is supported financially by a lover, usually a married man.
那時他們正在喝酒，他們忽然發現了，有一名妖嬈迷人的年輕小妞，風姿綽約，款款走來
然而，在她身後的兩步距離，緊緊跟著的是一個年紀大得很多的，形象猥瑣、臃腫不堪的
肥胖老男人。當時的畫面可能是反差太大，引起他們偷笑的時候，Glenn Frey 突然評論道：
「Look at her, she can't even hide those lying eyes」( 她甚至無法掩藏說謊的那雙眼睛 )
Glenn Frey 這句話剛說出口，他們馬上意識到，這是老天爺送給了他們一個 idea 一首新歌
的歌名主題，於是立刻拿起桌上的雞尾酒餐巾，馬上開始寫下歌詞草稿，並且進行下一步的
觀察，回去之後 Glenn Frey and Don Henley 關在房間裡寫了兩天的詞曲，決定由 Glenn Frey
主唱 Bernie Leadon 擔任主音吉他，其他人負責 Back vocal，開始著手準備錄音。

1971 年在美國洛杉磯成軍的 Eagles ( 老鷹合唱團 ) 連續 3 年，陸續推出了 3 張專輯
其中都有不錯的作品問世，除了《Desperado》在美國 Billboard Hot 100 排名只到第 41 名
其他的《Take It Easy》《Witchy Woman》《The Best of My Love》也都在 12 名以內。
但總覺得離成功還缺臨門一腳 1975 年推出的新專輯，有三首歌曲就打進 Billboard Hot 100
第 1 名的《One of These Nights》第 4 名的《Take It to the Limit》還有這首獲得第 2 名的
《Lying eyes》並且這首歌曲還讓 Glenn Frey and Bernie Leadon 獲得葛萊美最佳流行歌手獎
所以說沒事到酒吧，喝喝酒、看看妞，還是有好處的！
